According to statistics of the Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprise Association, China's output of crude stainless steel totaled 7.082 million tonnes in the first half of 2012, soaring by 5.25% YoY in comparison of that in the same period of a year earlier.
Among them, the output of chrome-nickel based crude stainless steel increased by 3.12%; that of chrome manganese based crude stainless steel surged by 8.36% and that of chrome based crude stainless steel increased by 8.2%, all compared to that in the same period of a year earlier.
In the given period of time, the country imported 387,900 tonnes of stainless steel, falling by 15.40% YoY. At the same time, the stainless steel exports decreased by 9.19% YoY to 101,800 tonnes. Meanwhile, China's apparent stainless steel consumption totaled 5.614 million tonnes in the first half of 2012, rising by 6.88% YoY.
